BIO- Shaquera Robinson

Shaquera Robinson, also known by her pen name; Shaquera Story is an educator, activist and advocate for issues related to and intersected with domestic violence abuse and sexual assault. Her advocacy provides a holistic approach to understanding and supporting  mental health post abuse. Her philosophy is that one victim of abuse is too many, and she strategically strives to disrupt and prevent the cycle of violence. 

Shaquera most recently graduated from Rasmussen University with her Bachelors Degree of Science in Criminal Justice Studies, and is currently enrolled in the schools Masters of Public Health degree program. 

She is committed to the work of public service and engaged in restorative social justice systems. Having volunteered on the District Attorney election of 2018 for District Attorney Rachael Rollins and again for City Councilor At-Large Julia Mejia.
 

BIO- Lovern Gordon

Lovern Gordon is the Founder of Love Life Now Foundation, Inc. (LLN) which  promotes year-round awareness around domestic violence (DV), via its initiatives,  points people in the right direction for help and helps bridge gap between DV  shelters and communities they serve. She is also the author of her memoir The  Legacy He Left Me.

 

She used 2 back to back pageant wins to increase awareness around issue in  2010. The following year, LLN was formed. She conducts DV Workshops and hosts events locally that raise thousands of dollars to benefit DV shelters.

She has appeared on numerous radio and television shows including: CBS This  Morning, nationally and NBC’s This is New England, locally.

The Boston Celtics named her one of their ‘Heroes Among Us’ and was featured  as part of Instagram for Business – Black Women Entrepreneur series for  Women’s History Month.

BIO- Bethany James

Bethany James has been an advocate for children from when she was a young girl being the neighborhood babysitter in her small town. She moved on to become a well sought-after, licensed childcare provider for over 30 years now.Not only is she a wonderful mother of four, and a grandparent of six, she also blessed a family by being a surrogate mother for them. Bethany also wrote a book on inappropriate touching that sells worldwide on Amazon just another avenue to stay connected to children, and all caregivers, to teach and show them how important they are and to keep them safe.

BIO- Dr. Richard Broussard

Born native of west side Chicago Illinois, where he faced much early childhood adversity, ranging from physical confrontations and pressure to become gang affiliated as early as age 8.

Dr. Broussard is a graduate of Christian Brothers University earning B.S Natural Science and Doctorate of Pharmacy UT Health Sciences. Dr. Broussard currently serves as National Medical Director of Rev. Peter Johnson Institute for Non-violence and is also Co-founder of “Reach Out Rise Up”. Additionally, Dr. Broussard has become a mental health advocate and speaks with transparency about mental being a survivor of early childhood sexual trauma and thriving in spite of diagnosed chronic PTSD. Dr. Broussard is a very outspoken mental health advocate on many platforms and provides mental health crises 1st aid and outreach for services. Ultimately, Dr. Broussard strongly believes early childhood development and women’s health care the areas where extreme focus should be placed to prevent toxic stress that leads to trauma and the health disparities produced by chronic toxic stress. Dr. Broussard is married and currently resides in the DFW area with his wife, two sons and his father.

BIO- Dr. Nina Mena, MD

Nina Joy Mena, MD was born and raised in Detroit, MI. She received her Residency Training in Psychiatry from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Fellowship Training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry from Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Mena currently works for Morehouse School of Medicine as assistant clinical professor of Psychiatry and works at CHRIS 180, community mental health agency.  Dr. Mena is very passionate about community mental health, serving the underserved, and global health.

BIO- Latasha Cleveland, MEd

Latasha Cleveland, MEd is a mother of 4. She has 2 adult and 2 younger children. She began homeschooling her youngest autistic child in 2015-present and has been her child’s advocate ever since. She is also involved heavily in her community. Latasha has obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Master’s degree in Education and Curriculum Development. She has also obtained her early childhood credentials. She is an active member of The National Society of Leadership and Success.

Dr. Lola Day

BIO- Naa Amerley Asante-Armar

Naa Amerley Asante-Armar was born and bred in London, UK but is originally from and has recently relocated with her family to live in Ghana. She is a mother of 2 precious sons, a Lawyer, Intuitive Life Coach for Women, a Career Mentor and Independent Presidential Aspirant for Ghana. She is also a Founding Member of Power to our Mothers Foundation (registered in Ghana and opening chapters across Africa) which seeks to help Mothers and Mother-figures (all Women and girls) empower themselves on multiple levels, including politically  so they can make laws and decisions which better cater to the needs of all citizens in their respective countries.

BIO: Dr. Kingsley Kabari

Dr. Kingsley Kabari graduated from the New York Chiropractic College in NY, as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Prior to earning his doctorate, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. He currently holds the following Certifications: Through American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) he is a personal trainer, Active Release Technique (ART), Kinesiotaping, and Whole Food Nutrition. Dr Kabari currently practices in Waterloo, NY. His background includes working as a Chiropractic intern at the VA hospital and Seneca Falls Health Center. He has over a decade of experience as a Fitness Expert, Wellness coach, Rehabilitation specialist, Intern as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist, Motivational Speaker, and Teacher in many health and fitness classes.

BIO- Ngozi Walker Tibbs, MPH, LCCE, IBCLC

Ngozi Doreen D. Tibbs is a nationally recognized speaker and educator on anti-racism, cultural humility, and maternal child health.  She serves as a lactation consultant and childbirth educator in private practice and currently works at the largest hospital in Western Pennsylvania and with Healthy Start, Pittsburgh.  She is a Medical Health Coach with Ovia Health and is currently studying to become a Precision Nutrition Coach and Fitness Instructor as her passion is health promotion in the African American community. Ngozi has worked as a birth advocate for over two decades to provide a continuum of care to birthing families as they journey through the joys and challenges of childbirth and breastfeeding. Ngozi is a respected member of the African American birth workers community in Pittsburgh and passionately serves with other doulas and educators of color to reduce infant mortality and raise breastfeeding rates in the African American community.

Jashia has over 6 years of experience in Women’s health.  She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2013 with a Bachelor’s in nursing, and soon after fell in love with all thing’s mother/baby. After working in various areas of infant and women’s health, for several years she knew this was her calling and decided to pursue a career in Midwifery at Georgetown University.

Jashia is a licensed Midwife in Washington, DC committed to serving her community and improving health outcomes for minority women. She realized many women have anxiety and fear related to birth and are intimidated to ask questions. She is aware that many black women do not feel heard or listened to. She understands that it feels good to talk to other people who you can relate with. Therefore, she had a vision to create a safe place for women to be educated, empowered, and listened to. She is the CEO of She Births from Within an organization dedicated to helping women birth what is on the inside of them spiritually and naturally. She believes everyone already has what they need on the inside to be successful, and life is all about living from the inside out. Her motto is “Everything you have to win is already within”. Her organization focuses on providing childbirth education and birth coaching to mothers to feel empowered. BIO – April Adams, MD

April Adams is currently an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine in the departments of Molecular and Human Genetics and Maternal fetal Medicine. She completed her completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology. She then pursued fellowship training in both maternal fetal medicine and medical genetics in order to combine her interests in obstetric care and prenatal genetics. Throughout her training she has spent a great deal of time working with women from underserved populations. It has been through these experiences she has developed a special interest in developing ways to reduce health disparities surrounding reproductive health

Timolin R. Langin

Timolin is a money magnet, author, speaker, teacher, thought leader, and world traveler. She comes from the MS Delta where sharecroppers, cooks and cotton fields taught her the most

valuable life lessons, including lessons around money management and money matters. Timolin connects the dots between the two by revealing how our emotions partner with our financial practices. She has been interviewed on major TV networks, radio stations and social media podcasts and blogs, but remains a country girl at heart. She gives wealth building tips and information on her Facebook Livestreams and You Tube channel called Mind Over Money with Timolin and has penned a book by the same title, Mind Over Money How to Live like a Millionaire on any Budget. Biography of Dr. Ebere Azumah

Ebere Azumah, MD, MPH, FACOG, ACC is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who currently lives in Upstate New York and works as an Obstetrician Gynecologist with an interest in high risk Obstetrics and Perinatal Anxiety and Mood Disorders. Dr. Azumah received her Bachelor of Science with a dual degree in General Biology and African American studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She attended Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit Michigan for her Medical degree. She completed her Ob/Gyn training at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York city, New York. She also completed her Master’s in Public health from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Azumah is the Founder of Healthy and Uplifted© a platform for women especially busy moms to support each other as they balance motherhood, career and self-growth. She is also the Co-founder of Love your Menses©, a program that provides educational resources about the peri-pubertal period for girls of color. Love your Menses© also empowers young girls and their parents to love their menses and their bodies during this important transitional period in their lives. She is also a Certified ICF Life Coach, an Organizational Consultant, Doula, Author and Blogger. She recently launched her first children’s book: Jonathan and the Hole in his Shoes. She is currently working on three other books that will be released soon. Erin is a fitness expert and a mom to really a cute 3-year-old. In her role, she serves as a general manager for The Fitness Mill, a master trainer for Beachbody LIVE, a personal trainer, a group fitness instructor, and an online fitness coach. Her passion for health and wellness began 18 years ago and has led her to sharing her story and passion with others. She believes in helping people all over the country virtually or in person with a focus on nutrition, which she attests accounts for 90% of your results. In addition, she also loves to inspire people to feel amazing in their health and wellness. 

As the Master Keynote Speaker, Erin will be giving us tips on all things fitness and wellness. She will also be joining us in the mothering and fitness breakout session

Biography of Dr. Hokehe Effiong

Dr. Effiong is a Board-Certified Pediatrician, Certified Health Coach, wife, and mother of three lovelies. She is passionate about inspiring and equipping parents with strategies to heal from adverse childhood events and develop a love for their brain and realize their holistic worth so they can transform their lives and the lives of their children. She advocates for children in foster care and is the founder of Kits of Hope, a 501 (c) 3 Organization, that shares love, hope, and dignity by providing children going into foster care with bags filled with comfort and essential items. She also works with companies and agencies to understand the effects of adverse childhood events on worker performance and how they can elevate their most valuable resource- people.

As a keynote speaker, Dr Effiong will be giving us tips particularly focused on nutrition as her health coaching certification from BRAIN focuses on this. She will also be joining the breakout session on eating healthy.

Biography of Dr. Richard Broussard

Dr Richard Broussard firmly believes in the APhA’s pharmacist oath and advocates “for the relief of human suffering” in both the retail-based setting, and more importantly community outreach. Stabilization of the community, strategic implementation of data/statistics derive measurable health outcomes has become his primary focus. As a pharmacy manager for the last 16 months, accounting sales projection plays a vital role in the daily operations of a business. He oversees daily sales, monthly perpetual inventory on scheduled control meds, and operates a high-volume store with $330,000 in inventory with a turn rate over 9 times annually while serving over 1400 scripts weekly. He envisions an opportunity to have meaningful, lasting impact on individuals, families, and ultimately socio-ecological conditions that promote a sustainable community. He believes this goal can be achieved by establishing protective factors that prevent adverse childhood experiences, which directly correlate to health outcomes, and overall life expectancy as defined by the social determinant of health. This is in addition to mentorship as well as funding for much needed resources in areas below the poverty line where negative health outcomes continue to be problematic. Areas of extreme poverty have been neglected and overlooked as the most impactful starting point which can lead to increased quality of life and positive health outcomes.

As a session leader, Dr Broussard will be joining us in a more intimate conversion on eating healthy. He also runs a community garden and can provide answers to your questions on managing that.

 

 

 

Biography of Dr. Petrenia Davis- Jenkins, MBA

Dr Davis-Jenkins is an Air Force veteran and a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician. She graduated medical school from Wayne State University and holds an executive MBA from Auburn University. Currently, she is practicing at Memorial Family Medicine in Jacksonville, FL. She also works as a Locum Hospitalist at various hospitals in Savannah, GA and in Jacksonville, FL. She has interest in preventative health and educating patients on how to live healthier lives overall.

Biography of Dr. Ebere Azumah

Ebere Azumah, MD, MPH, FACOG, ACC is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who currently lives in Upstate New York and works as an Obstetrician Gynecologist with an interest in high risk Obstetrics and Perinatal Anxiety and Mood Disorders. Dr. Azumah received her Bachelor of Science with a dual degree in General Biology and African American studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She attended Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit Michigan for her Medical degree. She completed her Ob/Gyn training at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York city, New York. She also completed her Master’s in Public health from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Azumah is the Founder of Healthy and Uplifted© a platform for women especially busy moms to support each other as they balance motherhood, career and self-growth. She is also the Co-founder of Love your Menses©, a program that provides educational resources about the peri-pubertal period for girls of color. Love your Menses© also empowers young girls and their parents to love their menses and their bodies during this important transitional period in their lives. She is also a Certified ICF Life Coach, an Organizational Consultant, Doula, Author and Blogger. She recently launched her first children’s book: Jonathan and the Hole in his Shoes. She is currently working on three other books that will be released soon. Dr. Azumah has many interests but one mission, to empower and to motivate people (including herself) to live their best lives.

 

Biography of Dr. Dorienna Alfred

Dorienna M. Alfred, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and owner of Works of Faith Wellness and Consultation, LLC, in Columbus, Ohio, a private practice centered on perinatal mental health services. Her organization will focus on direct services, advocacy, outreach and education that promote health equity for those at the highest risk for complications during pregnancy and postpartum. Dr. Alfred is also the author of the book, Pregnant with Promise: A Spiritual Journey

of Pregnancy, Bed Rest and Childbirth, a memoir of her journey with loss and high-risk pregnancy. She enjoys volunteering with local and national organizations that support maternal health equity and is passionate about increasing awareness of mental health and wellness throughout women’s reproductive life span. She has co-authored publications and refereed workshops on topics related to women’s health, racial identity, social justice, and cultural competence. She is also employed as a health psychologist for a major health corporation where she works primarily in weight management. In her free time, she enjoys spending time

with her husband and sons, scrapbooking, and Zumba.

 

Biography of Nkem Denchukwu

Nkem Denchukwu is a bonafide creative writer, an award-winning author, a film producer, a woman whose strength is anchored on God, and a mother of four. She delved into the arts of filmmaking and creative writing in 2012 and has thirteen independent films & eleven inspirational books under her belt since then. Nkem was named the 2019 Houston Literary Award Recipient by the Houston Public Library Foundation “Reader’s Choice Winner.” Nkem advocates for battered women, men, & children, and continues to promote awareness about mental illness and suicide prevention through written and spoken words. She strongly believes that everyone was born with a purpose to fulfill. Her comments have been published in the June 2015, May 2016, July 2017, November 2019, and February 2020 Editions of Oprah Winfrey Magazine. She has also been featured in Forbes (digital edition) in 2018 as well as multiple times on FOX 26 News, ABC 13, CBS 11, NBC 2, Great Day Houston, Isiah Factor Uncensored, Voice of America, and Houston Chronicle. Nkem has a master’s degree in Health Services Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Networking, but her first love is in the arts. She constantly uses her skills, voice, and experiences to empower, educate, inform, inspire, and nurture the young especially, and the not-so young. She also enjoys gourmet cooking and still photography. 

 

Biography of Dr. Shola Ezeokoli

Biography of Dr. Uchenna Umeh (Dr. Lulu aka Momatrician)

A former Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force, She is also a board-certified pediatrician, global speaker on youth suicide, 2-time bestselling author, and youth suicide activist. She is Nigerian born, mother of 3 and the CEO of Teen Alive, and Dr. Lulu’s Youth Health Center, both dedicated to suicide prevention and high-risk teens. Her public speaking of suicide and suicide prevention began in 2016 after the deaths of her and a patient from Suicide. She is also a victim of domestic abuse and has struggled with depressive crisis and suicidal thoughts. She has been featured on several media platforms. She is a 2020 TEDx speaker. She hosts her own show on public television in San Antonio and has her own podcast (Suicide Pages with Dr. Lulu) and blog (Words by Black Butterfly). She is also a freelance writer for several magazines. All her hard work has been recognized by the “Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission” of Nigeria, and the Texas State House of Representatives.

Biography of Dr. Richard Broussard

Dr Richard Broussard firmly believes in the APhA’s pharmacist oath and advocates “for the relief of human suffering” in both the retail-based setting, and more importantly community outreach. Stabilization of the community, strategic implementation of data/statistics derive measurable health outcomes has become his primary focus. As a pharmacy manager for the last 16 months, accounting sales projection plays a vital role in the daily operations of a business. He oversees daily sales, monthly perpetual inventory on scheduled control meds, and operates a high-volume store with $330,000 in inventory with a turn rate over 9 times annually while serving over 1400 scripts weekly. He envisions an opportunity to have meaningful, lasting impact on individuals, families, and ultimately socio-ecological conditions that promote a sustainable community. He believes this goal can be achieved by establishing protective factors that prevent adverse childhood experiences, which directly correlate to health outcomes, and overall life expectancy as defined by the social determinant of health. This is in addition to mentorship as well as funding for much needed resources in areas below the poverty line where negative health outcomes continue to be problematic. Areas of extreme poverty have been neglected and overlooked as the most impactful starting point which can lead to increased quality of life and positive health outcomes.

 

Biography of Margie McLean, MEd

Margie McLean, MEd, is a counselor, educator, mentor, and women and girls’ empowerment motivator. She uses her life experience to transform the lives of women and build self-esteem in girls and youth. Ms. McLean received her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the Argosy University. She is a member of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, the Order of Eastern Stars, PHA, and the National Teachers Association. She is the founder of the Margie McLean Foundation, Inc. a nonprofit organization focused on empowerment of children and teens through educational enrichment, mentoring, and health and wellness programs.  She also leads and organizes local and global service projects with the goal of developing future leaders. Some of her mentoring programs are Girls Empowerment Leadership Summit (GEL)®, DIVΔS Empowerment Retreat®, and the Kemistry Growth Mindset Business Summit. Ms. McLean is also a professional speaker and presenter, she has presented at events and conferences for the Prince William County School District in Woodbridge, VA, the Fayetteville Area Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc, and the Prince George’s County Schools in Latham, MD. She has been recognized as 2014 Who’s Who by the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) and was honored for the "Organization That Rock “by Pure Potential Inc, as their 2016 Trailblazer.

 

   Biography of Latasha Cleveland, MEd

Latasha Cleveland was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. She currently resides in Boone, NC. She is a mother of four children, two are adults while the other two are younger, 14 and 10. Her youngest daughter was recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, but she is thriving and doing well in school. She has been homeschooling her 10-year-old daughter, since 2015 and recently began homeschooling her 14-year-old. Latasha completed her bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a master’s degree in Education and Curriculum development. When Ms. Cleveland is not homeschooling her children, she works as a caterer in a company that she co-owns. She is an entrepreneur who makes and sells organic hair and skin products.
